Valley organizations celebrated the 35th anniversary of the American with Disabilities Act. Mr. Sergio Zarate reminded us that a disability can happen to anyone from one day to another, or in the course of an illness to an otherwise healthy person; the ADA is not just to protect children borne with disabilities, it has been tremendously helpful to disabled veterans.
I'm including information for two Valley companies that work with the VA to get disabled veterans a home care provider. This is not like Medicare where if you own your home they won't authorize a provider. The provider is paid by the VA, it depends on a veteran's healthcare needs, not on economic need. Veterans can get a provider when their primary doctor at the VA signs off on it. Good info to have, even if a veteran needs short term help, these companies will guide you to get approved for this benefit.
